A Disgusting Display by the Pittsburgh Police: 9-24-09 Video of police firing tear gas and what looks like rubber bullets at peaceful Pittsburgh college students outside of their dorms. The actions by the Pittsburgh police are despicable, they should be ashamed and the Chief of police should be charged with crimes. BOL believes that there is a place for police in crowd control. Police are meant to protect the public at large. If a gathering, protest or riot are threatening the lives or property of others the police have a right to disperse the rioters for the sake of public safety. In these videos and time and time again police have been deployed like armored storm troopers to attack people (and kids in this case) who were merely gathered in a large crowd. I am sure that this gathering of large crowds are nightly occurrences on the campus of Pittsburgh University. The Pittsburgh police's actions are deplorable. There was no indication on any of these videos that the students at the university were in anyway violent nor did it appear that they were engaged in the large scale destruction of property or people.
